Labor Day is our country’s annual celebration of the achievements of American workers. Here at Forbes Insurance we are proud to pay tribute to Morgantown’s local businesses and all they do to strengthen the community.
The policies and practices that Labor Day celebrates speak to me on a personal and professional level, not only because I am a small-business owner, but because the insurance industry plays a direct role in protecting the rights of workers.
Workers’ compensation is a form of insurance, which provides wage replacement and medical benefits to employees injured on the job. The history behind workers’ compensation really centers on America’s industrial revolution. During that time, it was difficult for employees to recover damages for injuries that happened while they were working – civil suits were typically the only option they had. These suits were costly and often hard to win for employees.
Today, policies have come a long way, and workers have better options. Erie Insurance offers a comprehensive workers’ compensation program that supports employers and employees in every step of the claims process, including filing all of the state-required workers’ compensation forms.
Forbes Insurance would like to thank all the workers out there (both past and present), and we wish everyone a happy Labor Day.
